    Reviews :
    Negative :
I was very excited to see and play the latest D&D release. What a disappointment! The game is horrible form the graphics to the audio to the fact that the game is just not finished. It looks like someone was under time constraints to get this to market and forgot to add the quality. Save your money! It's not worth it! Oh, and be prepared for a 2 Gig download after you install Steam.
    Positive :
The graphics aren't too bad, although they won't stand up to any AAA title of today. In fact, I kind of liked them. The character models look pretty good, and so far there seems to be a fair amount of variation of the characters - e.g. there are a number of different dwarfs roaming their halls in one part of the game. While not top of the line, for a $15 dollar game, they look OK. The textures aren't bad either. There's enough variety - so far - that I'm not too bored looking at the scenery as I play the game. The level design is better than some games I've seen. The game takes place below ground, so it's a throwback to dungeon crawlers of the past. It's actually a lot of fun to play a D&D game that isn't so focused above ground for a change. I guess they were trying - maybe??? - to capture the fun of games like Dungeon Hack, an old DOS D&D game. The story seems to be fairly decent too, but as I mentioned, I haven't gotten that far into the game. So I'll skip that part in this review.
The weapons, armor, and items you can find and/or purchase in the game are pretty neat. Some might say they are a little over the top and too powerful too soon for such low level characters, but for a short hack-and-slash game, I don't see a problem with it. You really need some powerful weapons to offset the number of enemies that come at you if you play it in the single player mode.
The music is pretty cool. It suits the game quite well, and it's one of the high points of the game - a game that sadly has too few.
There are some scripted in-game cutscenes, as well as some animated drawings with voice over that serve as cutscenes, too. The scripted in-game cutscenes are actually pretty good. There are also some scripted events that happen during the quests that add some flavor to otherwise boring quests where you fetch things.
    THE BAD:
There are some balancing issues. Enemies re-spawn, and if you are low on health and without potions, you'll have a hard time getting back to safety to end your question. This is a real problem when it comes to the save system (more on that later!!!).
Limiting your ability to choose between four races that are tied to four classes is not, as the box quotes, "'the way Dungeons & Dragons was always meant to be played' - GamePro". The person that said that needs to be beaten with a pillowcase full of hard drives! [JOKING!!!!] You are basically given 4 choices. Not 16 (4x4) choices as in a mix of classes and races. You get four. They're bound together. You really don't create a character. The RPG aspects are pretty much stripped out of the game. When that goes, so does D&D. It makes about as much sense as the Ravenloft fighting game that came out back in the 90s. D&D is an RPG. When you limit what you can do to the extent this game does, not only is it NOT "the way Dungeons & Dragons was always meant to be played", it's not much of an RPG at all. There are plenty of RPG games to play, and people aren't going to spend much time on a game like this. Which begs the question, "Why make it?" If you aren't going to put out a competitive product, don't even start the process.
The story line and gameplay are very linear. This is another issue. With games like the Elderscroll series and NWN, and even Baldur's Gate, people don't want such linear gameplay anymore. Being dragged by the nose through a game, without any side quests or deviation, just isn't going to cut it today. This game has no choice. You follow quest A to quest B to quest C, with no side quests or plots. I assume you just connect the dots, so to speak, to the end of the game.
The ads for this game are so misleading. The worst claims are that they game includes an "Authentic D&D Experience" and "Character Development." Read the product description, play the game, and then go back and read it again. You'll see what I mean.

    Costumer Reviews :
    Positive :
If you have played the Xbox 360 version, you may have noticed bugs, long load times, and framerate skipping. Annoying right? Well the PC version has fixed all of that and has even added upon the fable 3 experience, with all the DLC included right out of the box, a new "hardcore" mode, superior Mouse and Keyboard controls, and the stunning new Nvidia 3D functionality.
    Pros:
-Majority of game bugs fixed with PC release
-Hardcore mode actually adds enjoyment to this game for the gamers who found the 360 release to be too easy.
    -3D mode is very stunning
-Support a wide variety of Xbox 360 controllers
-New graphical details added exclusively for PC
-Achievements (if you care about those, I don't)
    -Mouse and Keyboard works great
-No disk required to play after you install
    -No securom
    Cons:
-Still too easy (no real penalty for dying other than loss of guild points)
-Some minor GFWL interface issues (don't listen to the other reviews, game works fine and this isn't as big of an issue as they claim)
-Can't choose the expressions you want when interacting with other character like in Fable 2
    -Crossplatform co-op is not included
-Possible gamesave corruption (I have heard others have this issue but I have beat the game and never had this problem. It should be fixed in a GFWL patch later on)
Final words: Don't listen to the negative reviews, if you have a gaming PC (or even a decent PC for that matter) and a Xbox 360 gaming console, buy this PC version. It's pretty much better in every way unless you have friends that only own the Xbox 360 version and even then this game is still enjoyable by yourself. (Note: I did not buy the DVD version, I bought Fable 3 on Steam.)

    Negative :
If truth be told, I am still angry at Peter Molineux for selling out and snubbing PC gamers - even if it was the PC platform that he made his name on. After the unforgettable Fable: The Lost Chapters, its sequel was never released for the PC, the most widely used gaming system. This means that PC gamers will forever miss on the complete tale that will determine the fate of Albion. Not to mention us missing on the best installment of the series.
AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD TO OVERCOME SIBLING RIVALRY!
During the first part of the game you try to rally the support of all the regions in order to dispose of your evil brother and, you guessed it, save the land. If you are successful you will also get yourself crowned, so it is a win-win situation (well, not for your sibling, no - just for you and the land).
And the game is far from over - now that you got the power you coveted you have to choose which promises you made on your way up you can actually keep.
ARE YOU SURE ALBION IS NOT SOMEWHERE IN ...THE NETHERLANDS?
In the tradition of Fable, your character can form relationships or marriage(s), stable or not, ephemeral or not, of the opposite sex or not. Everything goes - in a surreal playful atmosphere. This is one of the parameters that make FABLE III a very quirky and yet immersive game to experience.
At the same time, moral choices are also abundant and fun to follow through. And, as they say, it is easy to make choices - the hard part, sometimes, is living with their consequences.
What are not so easy to digest are all the personal delivery services you have to carry out. Everyone and their sister seems to have a parcel for you to fetch or deliver! Fortunately, they will reward you for your time and trouble.
APPARENTLY ALBION IS RIDING A BULL MARKET
You can set up a business or engage in property sales - but there is really no need to do so. You will be swimming in money very soon. Thus, the property customization is kept to a minimum. There are tons of (not so interesting) side quests that will keep you into the red, no matter how expensive your tastes in weapons or property are.
MAGIC SO OLD THEY HAD TO USE ...SOFT-FOCUS
The graphics have definitely improved since the first FABLE (a 2004 game mind you) but, playing The Witcher II in parallel, I was not that impressed. Lighting is dynamic, the environments look beautiful but not realistic and the characters as if walked in from a Japanese anime cosplay convention.
Having said that, high-end graphics had never been a FABLE game's strong point. Instead, an ever-playful atmosphere, imaginative environments and outrageous characters are what set the mood of the game.
    A cRPG ON CRUISE CONTROL
This is where the game lost me. I did not mind the ...patty cakes or the juvenile body-sounds jokes from a Fable game but the gameplay oversimplification was sticking through in too many places to ignore. Although there is an appearance-modifying and weapon-equipping Sanctuary (accessible by hitting the Esc button), FABLE III has neither in-game inventory nor quick-slots.
Potions are consumed automatically. If you do not have enough you die. Something that never should worry you though. Because all you lose is some orbs and you respawn before you know it. This way, however, fighting not only is repetitive, it is also unchallenging. Even choosing the hardcore setting will not be much of a challenge to most gamers - and you still die with impunity.
Spell-combos are possible and the game encourages you to explore the possibilities but the combined effects are minimal. Most of your weapons gain levels and abilities as you keep using them. And you can always buy that coveted cool war-hammer.
    ENTER THE DRAGON
Well, not the silverback one but still a dragon. The game utilizes mandatory Games for Windows Live DRM. Limited installations? Yes. Extra hoops to jump through for the privilege of playing the game you bought? You bet. Can you play offline? Yes - after you set up an offline Profile and forfeit any achievements while offline.
Overall I found FABLE III to be an overdue underperformer. It is a 3.5 stars game but I rounded down rather than up because of Monsieur Molineaux's snobbery towards PC gamers.
It is all about choices, right? Well, choices have consequences.

    Helpful Review :
I had the fortune of never paying attention to--or really noticing, for the most part--Brink as it was under development. Sure, I read one or two summaries, but I never had some high and mighty expectations for the game. So, come its release, I was neither bummed nor overjoyed at its less than stellar response by many people. Nevertheless, I was intrigued by its elements, and I found it somewhat alluring, in a way.
I had, years ago, played the game Shadowrun, which is basically the same old song and dance: class-based multiplayer game focused on objectives that didn't have enough bang for the buck. Maybe it was the fact that I never paid $60 for the game, instead opting to rent it, but I found Shadowrun to be an absolute blast to play--and I did so many times over. As for the popular game Team Fortress 2, I never really did get into it. I don't know if it was the far-too hectic combat, or the complete lack of skill that I had upon my first few playthroughs, but I found it very hard to jump in without frustration and annoyance. As for the game Call of Duty, I thoroughly enjoyed the first Modern Warfare, was severely disappointed by the stagnation of the second, and realized the series had reached ennui by Black Ops; still, though, the gameplay was worth of being applauded.
So a week after Brink's release, I had found myself still very interested in its concept. I have always loved customization in games. I feel much more connected to my character, and feel as though I am creating something of my own personal hero that can be anything I want him to be. Brink, having something of a combination between all of these good games with other good extras thrown in, was quickly gaining height on my wish list. Yes, I have heard the issues with the game, and yes, I have heard there's not much incentive to keep playing--but all of these, I can only assumed, can be addressed by updates and DLC--DLC that will all be free, mind you.
So, I finally decided to give the game a try before I took the plunge to buy the game. I am a PC gamer, and I know the game runs much better on a PC, but seeing as how the only legal way to play without buying it is to rent it, I opted for that scenario. After renting it and trying a few different classes and abilities out, my mind still wasn't made up. And it won't be made up for a little while longer; here's why: the game is actually very, very fun. The customization options, while somewhat scant for its promises of many abilities, were still very numerous, and enough to make me giggle with delight in all the different ways I could make the character truly mine. The story, though interesting, is a bit of a flop. You are thrown into what is seemingly a multiplayer match right off the bat, and only after it is over do you realize that you completed part of the campaign. The gameplay, however, is what really shines. The SMART system works wonderfully, making the combat more fast-paced and hectic, while still giving you enough slowdown to keep your focus clear. The variety of different class options and things to do is a fresh breath of air in a genre that is quickly deteriorating into Call of Duty clones. Sure, the AI is iffy, but that's nothing that should keep a person from wanting to play the game--especially a game such as this that is meant to be online.
A true gripe I had was the complete lack of a tutorial. I realize they show videos, and maybe I accidentally skipped some, if that's the explanation, but I was just sort of thrown into the action without one word of advice other than pop-ups on the screen--all during a game that literally cannot be paused mid-action to read them. There are objectives that you can't quite follow, even when they point them out to you. Still, it takes a few plays to really get a hang of what's going on, and for a dedicated gamer, this difficulty curve shouldn't be a problem in getting into the game.
So why am I still withholding my purchase? Two reasons: for one, I want to see a community develop. The problem with Shadowrun was that, while it was a fun game, it quickly lost its shine and fell into a gamer-less abyss quite quickly. I wouldn't want my purchase to be rendered meaningless. The other reason is that, to put it simply, it's true that this game has substantially little to offer. It has the formula right, and there is definitely possibilities for the game that could be seen to in new DLC, but for now, I can't risk the possibility that it will lose the developer's attention.
All in all, I understand how people feel about the game, and I completely understand the reviews it is getting. In all fairness, 6's aren't bad scores. It's the terrible rating system we have set up for games that makes this one look so terrible. Being stuck in the clouds with 8's and 9's really ruins the entire reviewing system when almost every game is given a score in said range. However, people have their reasons for feeling let down. The Fable series was a letdown. Dragon Age II was a letdown. To follow a game that promises a new experience and have it be a disappointment in comparison is not a pretty thing--especially when you pay $50-$60 for it.
So let that be a warning to anyone hoping to buy this game: rent it, first. Make sure it's a game for you, because it's certainly not for everybody. If it is to your liking, then still make sure to hold off until you're absolutely sure you want to make the plunge. An objective-based game such as this can only stay fresh so long as more maps are made. Without strong maps meant only for deathmatches, the game could possibly wear out sooner. Always be sure of what you're getting into beforehand.
    Critical Review :
Where to start....first off, this game offers nothing new. Customization of weapons amounts to nothing and adds no value to your weaponry. Medics are useless, both AI and real life teammates. It takes an entire magazine to take someone down, are you kidding me? Grenades do almost no damage and are completely useless. Lag issues galore online, you skip and stutter around the entire time, it makes you want to headbutt your dog you get so pissed. Very short, uninvolved gameplay, you don't feel tied to the plot at all. The missions are the same on each faction, either you defend or attack the exact same thing depending on your faction. Very short campaign, as in 10 missions lasting only 15 minutes or so a piece. Objectives are very lame, "fix this", "plant bomb here", which essentially amount to you throwing yourself at the infinite amount of enemies repeatedly in the same fashion until you overpower them long enough to fix some dumb piece of machinery. The world consists of either some futuristic looking shopping mall, or walled garden type slums, there is no variation.
